This exhibition required us to finish an artwork as a team in a limited time and space. As the first group, we didn't have enough time to create a well-made piece of artwork, so after the discussion, we decided to start with the idea of making an installation, which focused on the concept rather than the visual effect. It was very challenging to cooperate when we are not very familiar with each other and it was inevitable to have arguments and communication problems during the process. However, although every one held their own idea, we improved it by questioning it again and again, and made all the decisions together as a group.

This artwork seems doesn't require lots of time and work to finish, but we faced more difficulties than we imagined. The technical problems and limited loan of the MP3 and headphones, and selection of suitable frames, writing and correcting of the narrations, took us lots of time and energy to accomplish.

In the end, with the help with other group members, we did a good job in such a short time, especially without no examples that we can refer to, and presented it in our ideal way. During this cooperation, I got closer with my group members and got more experience on how to work with different people.

Through this Art Parlour, we opened our eyes about how to survive as an artist and how do they present artworks. We walked around the area of Peckham, which is a gathering area of artists and art spaces. I had a new understanding of 'gallery' in this tour. Usually 'gallery' is a professional space for exhibiting artworks, which is a big empty space with four white walls, but I saw many other space can also functions as 'gallery', like an old public toilet in the park (where is a printing studio and exhibition space called 'The Bower'now), a window display space in a shopping area (an exhibition space for a gallery called 'Picnic'), a billboard at the corner of street. Also the 'hair dresser', he combines art into his daily life. This experience totally changed my expression about the life of artists, and it reminds me of Marcel Duchamp and Dada artists, who considered artwork as a daily action, living with it and playing with it. They opened more opportunities about art and explored what art can be.

Compared with two periods of artists, I think they both share the same idea: Make and present art in their own perspective for reacting to the high-classic art market. It always reminds us to rethink about what's art and how to live as an artist.

So our group decided to write down our own understanding of that day in poetic language, and we cut down every sentence. All these little sentences are collage into a poem with a new meaning. This idea came from a game that invented by Dada artists. We would like to use this simple way implies that art can be very simple and daily.
